Apex Legends Season 23 Split 2 is now available across all platforms (including PlayStation® 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via EA App, Epic Games Store, and Steam), however, there is a few details that players should know about the split to better understand how the update is being managed
The Apex Legends Season 23 Mid-season update is being divided into two parts, (i) The Split Reset, (ii) Content Update
The Split Reset: As the name suggest the split reset will go live today December 17 which will also include the reset for Battle Pass
Content Update: The content Update featuring all the updates, balance changes & teasers for season 24 will be available in this patch, which will be released next month on January 7th, 2025
Table of Contents
Apex Legends Season 23 Split 2 Battle Pass
With a new Split comes a ”’new Battle Pass”’, featuring Legendary Skins for ”’Wattson”’ and ”’Pathfinder”’ in cute onesies, as well as a new ”’Reactive Skin”’ for the ”’Mozambique”’. Finally, the Nessie Wattson Skin everyone has been asking for has arrived.
EPG-1
As of Apex Legends Split 2 of Season 23, the ”’EPG-1”’ can now be rarely found inside ”’Rift Relics”’ as well as being available in the ”’Firing Range”’ for testing.
Being an explosive weapon, the EPG-1 projectiles act as if they were ”’grenades”’, which means it can deal both ”’direct”’ and ”’splash”’ damage, although the same player cannot receive both from one projectile. A direct hit from the EPG-1 will deal ”’105”’ damage, while the splash damage from an explosion will deal ”’up to 65”’ damage depending on the distance from it. An EPG-1 also comes with ”’28 total shots”’ at its disposal, is ”’semi-automatic”’, and can be fired roughly ”’once per second”’.
The EPG-1 also allows the player using it to ”’rocket jump”’ by aiming the weapon at their feet and firing it, ”’causing a bit of self-damage”’ in the process, but ”’launching the player”’ in the opposite direction from where it was fired: if timed correctly, one might not even need an Octane Launch Pad or Horizon Gravity Lift to reach higher destinations, all they need is one shot from an EPG-1.
The EPG-1 will be available ”’until the start of Season 24”’.
Apex Legends Winter Express LTM
As part of the Apex Legends Winter’s Haunt Milestone Event, the ”’Winter Express Limited-Time Mode”’ is finally back and will last ”’until January 7 2025”’. In this LTM, ”’3 teams of 3 players each”’ attempt to ”’capture a train”’ whenever it reaches a station. Once a team manages to either ”’capture the train or kill everyone else for 3 times”’, they win.
Karambit Melee Purchase Bug
As of Apex Legends Split 2 of Season 23, the ”’Karambit Universal Melee”’ has been ”’accidentally added to the Mythic Store”’ and can be purchased directly for Mythic Shards, despite the event from which it was released not being over yet. ”’This is a bug”’ and ”’will be fixed soon”’, so if you want to purchase the Karambit without having to buy the Event Packs from the Void Mercenaries Milestone Event, ”’head to the Apex Legends Mythic Store”’ and buy it directly while it’s there.
New Map Rotation
From December 17, 2024, until January 7, 2025, the map rotation for Ranked will be: World’s Edge , Storm Point, E-District
From January 7, 2025, until the start of Season 24, the map rotation for both Pubs and Ranked will be: World’s Edge, Olympus, E-District
“Astral Anomaly” Milestone Event
On January 7 2025, the ”’Astral Anomaly Event”’ will arrive in Apex Legends. Astral Anomaly will be a “”’Milestone Event”'” similar to the previous Void Raiders Event, which means the Skins and Cosmetics featured in it ”’CANNOT”’ be purchased directly through Apex Coins or Crafting Metals, but instead ”’must be found randomly in Event Packs”’.
Among the various items available in the Milestone Event, the ”’Legendary Alter Skin seen in the Season 23 Launch Trailer”’ will be part of them.
Getting every item in the Astral Anomaly Event will award the player with the ”’Horizon Legendary “opbundle” Skin”’. “opbundle” Skins ”’change the animations of a Legend when they are selected”’ in the Legend selection screen.
“Lunar Rebirth” Collection Event
After the Astral Anomaly Event, but still during Season 23, the ”’Lunar Rebirth Event”’ will arrive in Apex Legends. Lunar Rebirth will be a “”’Collection Event”'”, which means the Skins and cosmetics featured in it ”’CAN”’ be purchased directly through Apex Coins or Crafting Metals, as well as being able to be found randomly in Event Packs.
Among the various items available in the Collection Event, ”’Legendary”’ Skins themed after the Lunar New Year for ”’Bloodhound”’, ”’Gibraltar”’, ”’Loba”’, ”’Revenant”’, ”’Valkyrie”’, and ”’Vantage”’ may be purchased.
Getting every item in the Lunar Rebirth Event will award the player with the ”’Alter Prestige Skin”’.
While the event is active, previously-released Skins from the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth event ”’will return to the Store”’. This may also mark the ”’return of the Final Fantasy VII Takeover”’, featuring the ”’Buster Sword R2R5”’ special weapon and ”’Materia Hop-Ups”’.
It is worth noting that in the promotional image used to showcase the Lunar Rebirth Event, the ”’Universal Melee Skin variant of the Buster Sword”’ was been used, rather than the LTM weapon variant. Could it possibly mean the Universal Melee Skin may return as well?
Apex Legends Winter’s Haunt Event
With the latest split 2 update, the Winter’s Haunt Milestone Event featuring 30 new cosmetics such as Bloodhound Heirloom Recolor ‘Winter’s Bane’ and ‘Attunement’ Hemlock Reactives skins is now available for purchase across all platforms with free rewards and exciting challenges to complete, which you can all learn about here
And during this special event players can also earn themselves Heirloom Shards which have less than 1% chance of drop rate in standard Apex Packs

The next “opbundle” Skin set to be released will be for ”’Loba”’, Which you can learn more about in this dedicated blog where we discussed all of the things we know about that skin
